With a vision to start a private Hospital that would respond to the needs of the common people, 12 Doctors and the Diocese of Kidapawan established the Kidapawan Doctors Hospital Inc. (KDHI) in 1995. Intending to start a Corporation where the stockholders would lead in decision-making, the Hospital was renamed by the Securities and Exchange Commission from being St. Joseph Hospital to Kidapawan Doctors Hospital, Inc. On May 28, 1995, the KDHI formally opened its operations as a 30-bed Secondary Hospital.
The services of KDHI proved to be well accepted by the masses as it eventually had to increase its bed capacity to accommodate increasing admission. In 2001, The Philippines Health Insurance Corporation (PHIC) and the Department of Health (DOH) awarded KDHI its accreditation as a secondary, 50-bed capacity Hospital. On the same year, the Hospital acquired a new X-ray equipment, begun construction of a three-story building, and started recruiting additional specialist Doctors to accommodate ever-increasing hospitalization needs of Cotabateños – and that was just the start.
In 2003, the PhilHealth again awarded the Hospital accreditation for 75-bed capacity operations indicating the continuous progress of the Hospital to be later confirmed by eventual developments. In fact, in 2006, KDHI secured accreditation from PhilHealth to operate in a 110-bed capacity significantly adding 35 beds from its previous 75. These milestones led, a year later, to the establishment of the Hospital as a Tertiary-level Hospital offering more comprehensive packages from PhilHealth and becoming a leader in technologically advanced medical facilities in the Province.
The triumphs of the Hospital continued to pile up as in May 2008, KDHI opened its Renal Dialysis unit offering affordable and quality services for renal patients. Acquisition of state-of-the-art equipment is not just the progress KDHI has been making. In February 2012, KDHI became the first Training Center for Nurses in North Cotabato and the Region XII. This was brought about by the accreditation of the Association of Nursing Service Administrators of the Philippines (ANSAP) that the Hospital handle training for nurses such as First Basic IV Therapy Training and IV Preceptors Training with the first batch held last February 18-20, 2012 with the participation of different Hospitals in North Cotabato.
Another significant milestone happened last March 2012 when the Hospital passed the inspection of PhilHealth to accredit KDHI as a Center of Quality. These are but a few examples of how KDHI demonstrates it passion to grow its operations and its people.
KDHI’s quest for development has just started – with the coming years, the Hospital will strive to main standards of excellence and lead in technological advancement & client satisfaction.
